Mike Shaw's GMC CT Section Long Trail Day Fundraising Page
Welcome to my fundraising page for Long Trail Day!
**7/19/2019 - UPDATE**
Thanks to the donations of the fantastic members of the GMC CT Section, we've already met the goal to raise $1 for each mile of the Long Trail!! So now the NEW GOAL is $544!!
Please consider donating $1 for each of the 23 miles I'll be hiking. Thanks so much!
On August 3rd, I'll be hiking 23 miles of the Long Trail from VT-9, over Glastenbury Mt, to Stratton-Arlington Road and raising funds to support the Green Mountain Club. Together with other participants, we will be hiking the entire 272-mile Long Trail in one day!
The Green Mountain Club does really great work to support and maintain hiking trails in Vermont, especially the Long Trail. This is my way of giving back to the trail that means so much to me.
I've been a member of the Connecticut Section of the GMC for nearly 10 years, and I've been the VP for Trails & Shelters for the last two years. We maintain 2 shelters and about 13 miles of Long Trail from Glastenbury Mt to Stratton-Arlington Rd. Fun fact: the Long Trail was the precursor to the Appalachian Trail and for 100 miles from Massachusetts to just north of Killington, VT they are the same trail! Our 13-miles of trail is included in this combined LT/AT section.
Can you donate to support me in my goal of raising a $1 for each of the Long Trail's 272 miles?
Donating $1 for each of the 23 miles I'll be hiking would be fantastic!
Whatever you can give will help - it all adds up! I greatly appreciate your support and will keep you posted on my progress!
Thank you so much,
